First Vulcan Rocket Components Arrive at Vandenberg for Inaugural West Coast Launch
United Launch Alliance has reached a significant milestone as the first Vulcan rocket components arrived by ship at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, setting the stage for the rocket's inaugural launch from the West Coast. The delivery marks the beginning of on-site assembly and integration work at the California launch facility.
The Vulcan rocket is ULA's next-generation launch vehicle, designed to replace the legacy Atlas V and Delta IV rockets. Establishing launch capability at Vandenberg, in addition to the existing East Coast pad at Cape Canaveral, will expand the rocket's versatility for different orbital inclinations, particularly polar and sun-synchronous orbits critical for national security and Earth observation missions.
